Visited Hermosillo from L.A. over the holidays and had previously searched the web for restaurants in the city. To my surprise the food was really good and we got our money's worth! The meal included a salad and they bring fried zucchini to your table with different types of sauces. I ordered the caldo de queso which is basically a potato soup with Mexican cheese. The soup was delicious! I have to say that by the time I was served my steak, I was practically full from the soup. The steak was cooked to my liking and it was juicy and very tasty. Our waiter was very attentive and made sure we had all we needed. He even gave my cousin and I a flower when we were done. I would definitely visit the restaurant again on another trip to Hermosillo.

This is an OK steak house. When we came we wanted a Caesar salad and they said they were too busy to make them. This should have told us something. They suggested the salad bar, what a sad bar. The tomatoes were greenish and very poor selection. The lettuce was floating on a bath of water. Yummy.
Then we ordered the rib eye steak. It was cooked on a flat iron skillet and not a grill. The picture of a steak on their web site shows a steak with grill marks. It had no seasoning and was very bland.
Now we get to the next part, the potatoes. We ordered baked potatoes and they came and they were rock hard. They were not cooked. They apologized and offered French fries. Upscale steak house this is not. The final piece was the fire alarm kept going off. -

As a native of the Sonora state, I would say the steaks el Herradero is very representative of the Mexican cuisine in Sonora, I was welcome with a carnation flower, then a delicious zucchini and beef broth sample, also delicious . Attention was wonderful and food taste absolutely good, steaks very well cooked. I'll recommend this place for families. Atmosphere is so great and Mexican.
